When your 12 it is not so easy, combine that with starting a new school and not knowing anyone makes it even harder. Riley is finding it hard starting a new school. She feels like everyone already has friends and that they don't care one way or another if she is there. :(
She got in the car today after school and just cried. She says that she likes the school but it is just different than what she is used to. She misses her friends and feels so left out when she hears through facebook, what is going on at her old school, and who is in class with who. I suggested that she might want to lay off of facebook until she is a bit more settled here. We told her that it was only the 2nd day of school and that it would get easier. It all just takes time and to a 12 yr old that is hard to swallow.
She has softball tryouts starting tomorrow and they will go through Friday, so she will definitely make a friend or two there. We also told her once we find a church she will make lots of good friends there. It is just a little scary for her right now. She WILL be ok.
We have all been there. Putting yourself out there, waiting to be accepted. Wanting to fit in. I just wish that she didn't have to go through it. (i hear all of you saying ... stepping stones)

Not only stepping stones, but building character and she doesn't realize it now, but she is doing something ahead of her time....stepping outside the comfort zone and the box!
My heart breaks for her as well...I remember what Shane went through.
God is right there with her and this a footprints moment in her life.
Gramma and Grampa love you Riley!
Ugh...wishing I was still teaching at PMS! :(
