In case any of my 12 readers out there don't know it, I have two girls. Riley is about to turn 11 and Reagan just turned 7 three weeks ago. Well, It seems like on a daily basis someone doesn't feel well. One day it might be a sore throat the next day it is a headache or maybe even and upset stomach. I get it I'm a girl - but I'm also a girl that knows some times we just have to suck it up and go on with our day. Since I am a little bit older I can decipher when I'm really sick or just not feeling 100%. I'm trying to teach this to my girls. So when they tell me every day that they aren't feeling well I say well lets just try to make it and if you feel like you won't make it come talk to me again. Most of the time this works and I never hear from them again until the next day with the next problem. On school days unless you are throwing up or have a fever - you are going to school and I still tell them now if you need me call me.
So last Monday night we had two ball games. Reagan's was first and Riley's was second. Both girls seemed just fine, it was freezing out but we were O.K.! Well it was still in the first inning and I noticed from the bleachers that Riley was sitting down on the bench inside the dug out. I yelled to her "Riley get up against the fence and cheer for your team mates" (I'm a huge fan of cheering from the dug out for your team mates) She says to me "I'm not feeling well" well I thought hmmm she looks fine maybe she is just wanting a little attention so I said "I'm sorry get up there and cheer for your friends" she says "but I feel like I could throw up" and I said "I don't care how you feel get up there and cheer" She got up and stood at the fence but she didn't cheer... and I was O.K. with that. Our team gets out and It's our turn on the field and she gets her glove and goes to Darren ( who happens to be her coach) and tells him she doesn't feel well he tells her sorry go to short stop. My friend Shannon was sitting beside me and said your really gonna make her play huh?!?! and I said "Shannon I hear it every day"
So she goes out to short stop and is standing there waiting for the batter and yep you guessed it she starts puking ON THE FIELD...... Crap ~ wouldn't you know it..... I felt so bad!!!! Every parent on the bleachers heard every bit of it and thought I was the worst mom in the whole world! Needless to say I scooped her up and took her home and she threw up 4 more times that night. She was really sick! huh.... who knew!!
On our way home I explained why I had told her to play and didn't really believe her and she said I understand you were right!!! She hasn't told me since that night that she doesn't feel good and it has been 9 days.
I think I proved a point! :)

Oh my goodness!! I can't believe that Tracey! :) Poor thing! I think you are an awesome mom, I love it that you are encouraging your daughters to be strong women. You are staying the course, even when it is hard, I love it.

That is so funny, Tracey! I could just picture your face when she started puking on the field..hilarious!! You are a wonderful Mom! Keep up the good work with your beautiful girlie girls!!
Love you!
You're the best Mom - teaching them to become "thinking women". I hate that for little Reagy. She's so precious, what a good girl to hit the field with an upset stomach, talk about obedience!! You've raised some angels, no doubt!!
So great to see you Saturday!
