Contentment.......

So, Darren and I learned a good lesson in contentment.... It only took about 3 days to figure it out!!! Over the summer we were still toying with the idea that we might want to move to Colorado or someplace equally cool! The only thing holding us back was the girls and moving them even further away from family than they already are. Well, Darren got offered a really cool job where he would travel during the week and be home every weekend..... We knew it would suck and be a huge adjustment but we thought we could do it. We decided that we would give it 6 months to a year and then go from there. I forgot to mention it was a HUGE raise so we had to try.

In the beginning he would leave Sunday afternoon and come back on Friday night anywhere from 11:00PM - 12:30 AM, so all we really had him for was all day Saturday and a few hours after church on Sunday. Then he worked it out so that he could fly out every Monday morning and then get every other Friday off, so on those weeks he would come home late Thursday night.

He really liked the job and was making a bunch of contacts within the computer industry but back here on the farm...... things weren't going very good. The three of us were in culture shock. The girls (mainly Reagan) would cry every single night and in the morning. I was trying to be strong and so was Darren but the truth is we ALL hated it!!! We went out and bought a web cam thinking that if we could see each other every night it would be easier.... it helped but we still had tears.

We knew after just three days that we had made a mistake but a lot of names and reputations were riding on this so we knew we had to stick it out. After 3 months Darren went to his boss and told him things weren't working out like we thought they would and warned him that this job probably wasn't going to work out. He was trying to let them down easy and leave on a good note. In the mean time he was still in communication with his old job and they knew how we were all feeling. They along with 2 other companies offered Darren a job. I am so proud of Darren.

Anyway, what we learned from all this is that we are very happy here. We are involved in our community and have a great church that we both love. We are very blessed and I thank God for what he has shown us.

i feel like i have lived vicariously through you and all of this. i remember so well our talks at the beach about the new job, the perks and the down side too. your patience and perserverance has paid off and i couldn't be happier for y'all! you are exactly where God wants you to be.

although, i am still secretly praying that God will send y'all back this way. the two of you are our very best friends, and we miss you guys so much. :(

lem and i were just talking last night about how perfect it would be if we were closer to you guys...oh well. maybe in the future that will come true!

i am so happy for you, you deserve all the best of God's blessings and favor.

Yay!!

There is something to be said for patience! I'm a strong believer that things happen for a reason and problems usually work themselves out!

I'm happy for y'all!
